The Magnificent (10) Mile(s)

I'm in Chicago for a conference this week. In fact, I will speak about blogging and weight loss tomorrow. Today we hung out on Michigan Avenue, and according to my pedometer, we walked 10 miles! That officially put me over my walking goal for the year (see the bottom of the page).

268

The scale says 268 lbs this morning. That's OK. I'm going to beat this!

Good Day!

Had a pretty good food day today. Probably the best one I've had in months. Started out the day with an hour workout with weights and then a 2-mile walk. I really needed a good day.

I have eaten so bad for a while now. Yesterday I had pizza for lunch and two pieces of cake. Last night we ate at a Mexican restaurant where I had far too many chips and dip and followed it up with dessert at an ice cream place where I had a two-scoop sundae.

My clothes have gotten a little too snug. I'm going to figure this out.

scale

I made the mistake of stepping on the scale last night. It was nearly at 270 lbs! I've been eating way too much. I'm returning to some old habits. Mainly, I'm eating past fullness. I'm almost sick when I finish a meal.

I've got to focus on my food in order to feel better. I've kept up the exercise, but I've got to focus on the food.

Ugh

I'm alive but haven't been eating well for a while. I've definitely returned to some old habits (eating food with no nutritional value and eating lots of food). I'm going to stay off the scale for a little while and see if I can work on these bad habits.

Biggest Loser Challenge

Today started the Biggest Loser Challenge at my university. My goal is to lose 10 lbs by Dec. 1. I would like to be at 250 lbs. One of the trainers offered to work me out during the Challenge. I'm taking her up on it. I meet with her for the first time next Tuesday.

Protein and Veggies

I need to cut some carbs in my life, and a good place to do that is with breakfast. I pretty much eat cereal (Cheerios or Raisin Bran) and an orange every morning. I am thinking about a switch to protein shakes and fruit. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is it a good idea? Any suggestions on powders or pre-made shakes? Any favorite brands?

Another problem I have is that I don't get the minimum five servings of veggies every day. I am thinking about drinking those as well--maybe some V8? Any ideas on this?
